Dan Blevins, a father from Tennessee, was heartbroken to learn that it’s unfortunately not uncommon for parents of LGBTQ+ individuals to not attend their child’s wedding. He took to TikTok last year to share that he is willing to stand-in as a father for any same-sex couples who want parental support on their wedding day. Blevins formed the Facebook group “TikTok Stand In Families” shortly after, and has since created a massive network of users who show up as makeshift family members to strangers on their wedding days. The group is a haven for those seeking acceptance and love and has sparked lifelong bonds amongst strangers. As of now, the group has over 33,000 members living in 60 countries around the world.
