Navajo Nation Skatepark

Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk recently opened the Diné Skate Garden to bring the sport to New Mexico’s Navajo Nation. The reservation is 27,000 square miles of desert land, but places for kids to play are few and far between. With a new skatepark now on the reservation, kids are learning to be more active, picking up a new skill, and having fun with family and friends. The skatepark has quickly become a recreational hub that brings the Navajo Nation community together. Diné Skate Garden was constructed with the help of Hawk’s organization The Skateboard Project, which introduces underserved communities to skateboarding.
