NASA recently announced plans to form a team that will exclusively study UFOs. The nine-month study into unexplained aerial phenomena will begin in the fall. NASA will examine potential UFO sightings through the lens of safety and national security and will attempt to draw scientific conclusions about UFO sightings. The team will pull data on UFO sightings from the government, civilians, non-profits, companies, and wherever else they can find it. Since there are a limited number of recorded UFO sightings, NASA faces a challenge in drawing reliable conclusions from the data. The study will be unclassified and available to the public upon completion. Astrophysicist David Spergel is leading the team and told CNN, “We should be open to the idea that we’re looking at several different phenomena.”
