Tyson’s Love and Hope on Wheels is dedicated to supporting pets with mobility challenges. By offering mobility devices free of charge to pets in need, Tyson’s enables pets to regain independence and enjoy a better quality of life. How did Tyson’s program get started?

Tyson’s program was started when our founder Denise’s beloved boxer, Tyson, began showing signs of Degenerative Myelopathy. Once she saw how much a wheelchair would cost and how many people cannot afford to purchase one, the non-profit began its early development. Our goal is to enhance the quality of life for both pets and their owners by offering practical solutions and compassionate guidance. Since April 2023, we have provided over 1,400 wheelchairs to animals around the world. 

Can you tell me about your wheelchair program? 

The Tyson program is dedicated to providing loaner wheelchairs to pets in need. It’s not just pets with DM, nor is it exclusively for dogs. We have pets with many other health issues that prevent them from having full mobility such as DM, hip dysplasia, paralysis, amputees, and other conditions. We partner with individuals and various rescue organizations to provide wheelchairs to all dogs and other pets in need, and have shipped wheelchairs within the US, Canada, UK, Scotland, Australia, Puerto Rico, and South Africa. 

What support do you provide pets and their families? 

We're committed to being your partner in providing the best possible care for the pets we serve. Once the wheelchair arrives, our support begins. Recipients get helpful videos and information to guide them through setup, adjustments, and everyday use. Our team is always ready to assist with any questions or concerns, and we work closely with our animals to ensure all pets are comfortable and properly fitted.
