Did you know that Tampa, Florida isn’t the only Tampa in the United States? There is a small town in Kansas that goes by the same name and is home to only 105 residents. A tourism group in Florida organized a unique trip for nearly all residents of Tampa, Kansas, to visit their sister city in the Sunshine State. 95 individuals hopped on a plane going from Kansas to Florida and spent several days sightseeing around Tampa, all paid for by Visit Tampa Bay. The organization claims that the idea spurred from using Google Maps. An employee typed in “Tampa” to get directions home, but the maps directed her to Kansas. Realizing that there was another Tampa 1,400 miles away, the company decided to surprise the small town with a fun trip to bond the two towns together.
