Two years ago, Steve Wilson made the noble decision to donate one of his kidneys to a total stranger. Wilson is determined to continue with his athletic endeavors, despite having one kidney, and wants to show others that donating a kidney doesn’t require changing the rest of your life. Earlier this year, Wilson summited Mt. Kilimanjaro with 21 other kidney donors by his side. The 55-year-old went under various tests and physical evaluations to become a donor, which culminated in a single-port surgery to remove the kidney, which went to an unknown recipient. Wilson wanted to give his kidney to a stranger after hearing about the extensive transplant waiting list, and now hopes to inspire others to do the same.
